Les artistes graveurs de Xylon-Québec

Xylon Québec currently numbers twenty eight (28) active members. Its statutes and rules describe three kinds of members:

A) ACTIVE
B) ASSOCIATE
C) or SUPPORTING.

A) To qualify as active member, an artist needs to practice the art of relief printmaking, let it be using wood or its modern substitutes, or a combination of both.
B) To qualify as associate member, an artist needs to practice the art of relief printmaking, let it be using wood or its modern substitutes, or a combination of both and live outside of Quebec.
C) The society also welcomes the presence of supporting members, that is to say all amateurs, lovers of relief printmaking who wish to contribute funds dedicated to the continued excellence of the group's artistic activities.

Active membership qualifications ?

A juried committee of three members, elected by the executive board, organizes the admission contest and selects new members. Its criteria, clearly determined and approved by the executive board, may vary, but they generally consist of a good technological knowledge of relief engraving, its trends, tastes and tradition, in addition to making an effort to develop an up-to-date global view of the art of printmaking, opening up to pluridisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity approaches in a scope of conceptual research having a true significance. The candidates must send their dossier to the committee, including their curriculum vitae, name, postal and/or e-mail address(es), phone number and ten (10) original and recent (dating back to less than five years) woodcuts or relief prints.

Associate membership qualifications ?

Membership responsibilities ?

1) Pay yearly membership fees, as determined by the annual assembly;
2) update his or her personal dossier (curriculum vitae and visual documents);
3) take part, if he or she wishes to do so, in the annual exhibition organized by Xylon Québec.
